Gordon has carved itself a perfect Neukölln niche based on a holy trinity; great coffee, delicious food and a record store. Set on one of the quieter Schillerkiez streets, this Israeli cafe misses out on the Templehof traffic, but it’s worth heading off the beaten track to find it…
There’s an exciting menu of Israeli specialities, including homemade hummus and shakshuka accompanied by fresh pita. But if you’re on a five euro budget stick to the ‘Sabih’ stuffed pita, bursting with rich (vegetarian) flavours or the traditional bagels – also found at an old fave of ours, Shakespeare and Sons.
The coffee is from the legendary Barn, the authentic Israeli pastries are fresh and the atmosphere is relaxed – making this a lovely lunchtime place to go back to again and again.
€5 Food: The Sabih is a great option, stuffed to bursting with aubergine, tahini, eggs & salsa
€5 ‘Fullness’: The portions are not large, but the flavours are intense so you will leave sated
€5 Change: None, as most dishes are hovering just above the €5 waterline…
