La Pausa Pizzeria is Rosenthaler Platz’s worst kept secret. Located right at the top of the steps of the U-Bahn station (if you choose the right exit), join the queue of P’berg’s pizza pilgrims and indulge in a slice or three.
The huge, metre-long pizzas are freshly made and laden with all sorts of ingredients. You’ll get anything from green veggies to prosciutto and mascarpone to potato, and all are on thin, Italian style crust. Occasionally you’ll see a couple battling through a metre long monster, but the real money is with the slices.
Depending on what you have the taste for, hefty wedges of pizza are cleaved off each ‘papa pizza’ and heated up, before being handed to you on a paper plate, dripping with goodness (the spinach and mascarpone is to die for).
€5 food: Go for a slice and you will get two hefty portions for less that €5
€5 ‘fullness’: You eyes are bigger than your belly – €5 will fill you up!
€5 change: There’ll be a few pennies left for a tip
